Opal Jewellery Care

While your opal can and should last a lifetime, they do require care when worn. To keep your opal safe from chips and cracks, avoid dropping it on hard surfaces. Remove your opal jewellery before doing activities such as gardening and vigorous exercise.

Cleaning and Storing

To clean your opal jewellery, use a soft toothbrush, mild soap, and warm water. Use the polishing cloth provided to wipe silver and gold metal clean. Store your jewellery in an airtight bag or box to avoid tarnish.

Water & Chemical Exposure

Silver and gold jewellery with solid opals can withstand daily water exposure such as washing your hands. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners on opal jewellery. We recommend removing your piece before using perfume, lotion, and shampoos to keep your jewellery in its best condition.

Opal Doublet & Triplet Care

Doublet and triplet opals should avoid water exposure. We recommend removing before showering and swimming. The glue we use for doublets and triplets is very strong, but excessive water exposure can jeopardise the integrity of the stone, creating a cloudy or foggy appearance over time.
